Poll

Well the camera cord is still messed up and I'm going to Walmart tomorrow to get the pictures on a disk. I have lots of pics to post, but today I have a question I would like to ask those of you who are parents of little ones. Cameron & Taylor will be 4 in Nov. We're typically a very scheduled family. Now that the girlies are getting a little older not quite as strict, although we're buckling down on Peyton now. We have breakfast daily around 8, then snack around 10-10:30, lunch @ noon, snack around 3 and dinner between 5:30-6. Anyways my question is about snacks. Our girls on most days have a mid morning snack & a mid afternoon snack. I'm wondering if we need to cut out a snack. It seems like most things you read say that you should eat less and more often. So should we stick with snacks or should we cut out a snack? I'm curious to know what other people are doing.

I am not an expert on this, but I think that if it isn't ruining their appetite for the big meals and they are acting hungry I would keep it. Just a thought.

My kids still have a mid morning and after school snack. It is usually fruit and or yogurt/ applesauce etc. We try not to eat a lot of junky food and only water to drink!

I say if it isn't broken don't fix it. And actually it is better to keep the blood sugar at a constant that is why they recomend we eat 5 to 6 smaller meals!!

We do snacks, but only if my boys ask for it. If they are hungry, then we try to only do fruit or yogurt!!

I would keep the snack. I know that I actually eat less when I am STARVING but I tend to eat junkier food.
They say it is something about keeping your metabolism going throughout the day.

I am guessing it helps them be less cranky too. I am all for less cranky.

My twins will be 4 in January and without realizing it we have kind of cut out the morning snack. But, they sleep until around 8-8:30and don't eat breakfast until closer to 9, so that is probably why they don't need that snack any longer. My youngest is turning 2 this week and she is on the same schedule. And in the afternoon I only give them a snack if they ask for it. Most days they don't even ask for one. But, they eat 3 really good meals a day and seem satisfied with that. I think you can stick to the snacks if the girls are still eating a good lunch and dinner.
